New Tribal - The 2016 Edit

Tribal inspired styling is stomping its way back onto the interiors scene this year and I am so glad! Why? Because this is a style that celebrates pattern and form in a grass roots kind of way, with an energetic fusion of raw texture, colour and art. One of my favourite elements of this key look is African inspired textile prints in fierce monochromatic designs.

Therefore, I thought it would be entirely appropriate to share some key decorative elements to help get those cultural veins pumping to the rhythm of tribal decor in 2016.

The sometimes eclectic nature of this trend, which has been known to leave some homes looking more like a cultural exhibit in a museum, should be a little more subtle this time around, with uplifting whites playing home to rich wooden textures, suitably worn tan leathers and topped off with a riotous fusion of earthy coloured weaves and vibrant textiles.

With this trend the more natural the choice of materials - the better! So lots of wood, wool & natural fibre textiles, and handcrafted goods are top of the A-list for furnishings & accessories. And for this trend we should not forget the element of quirk - scouring far & wide for those unique finds (it's a worldwide market after all!).
